The Pat Daly Invitational is a fly fishing specific tournament that celebrates our favorite warmwater bass species. Any fly fishing angler is invited to sign up to participate, and prizes from leading industry brands will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each of the primary bass categories as well as to the tournament champion.
The tournament begins on Friday, September 22nd at 5 PM and ends on Sunday, September 24th at 4 PM.
All participating anglers are required to pick up their tournament packets at The Gadget Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma or JD Adams and Co in Oklahoma City, OK at 5 PM on Friday before they can begin fishing. One very important part to these packets is a mystery item that is required to be in all pictures that are submitted for scoring that the Oklahoma Department of Tourism has designed, so don’t forget to plan to be at one of these shops Friday evening.
Fishing is allowed in boats and on foot in all public Oklahoma waters. Night fishing is also permitted. No private ponds or private water catches will be considered.
All fish must be measured on a Bump Board to be considered a legitimate entry. All fish must be at least 13” in length to be submitted. All fish pictures must contain the special Oklahoma Department of Tourism item to be counted along with a GPS location (this is automatically captured on your cell phone when you turn on your location tracking) for verification that fish were caught in permitted waters. ODWC fishery biologists will verify each submitted photo and ultimately decide if it is to be counted.
Only bass properly hooked in the mouth with a fly are appropriate for submission. While it is nearly impossible to monitor, it is our hope that all anglers will will refrain from using conventional lures and tackle rods or submitting fish that were foul hooked.
There are four main categories of bass that will receive podium point scoring values: Striped Bass, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, and White Bass. First place podium finishers will receive 10 points, second place podium finishers will receive 7 points, and third place podium finishers will receive 5 points. There is a 5 point bonus for submitting an eligible bass in all 4 categories. Hybrid Bass and Kentucky Bass that are 13” or more, and are properly submitted, are worth 3 points each (limit of 1 Hybrid and 1 Kentucky per angler) as the only wild card basses. The angler with the most overall points will be tournament champion. If there is a tie, the first submitted fish will receive the highest point value, so you are encouraged to submit fish as you catch them versus “sandbagging” your results.
There will be no submissions accepted after 4 PM on Sunday.
An award ceremony, conservation raffle, and celebration will begin at 5 PM and go till 9 PM on Sunday at Heirloom Rustic Ales. There will be food available for purchase from multiple food trucks at the event, as well as music from local bands, and special releases from Heirloom Rustic Ales.
Sign ups will be available soon at TU420.com
